Meeting with UNO-members from Geneva

On Thursday 9 February, about 30 UNO-representatives from the diplomatic services in Geneva came to visit the Maison d’Izieu.
In addition to the visit of the site, they took part in a seminar on the role of the Maison d’Izieu in the transmission of Holocaust memory and in fighting antisemitism, racism and distorsions of history. The seminar was held in presence of Léon Saltiel, representing the World Jewish Congress in Geneva and Delphine Borione, French ambassador for Human rights, in charge of the International dimension of the Shoah, spoliations and the duty to remember.

After visiting the House and the permanent exhibition with Dominique Vidaud, director of the Maison d’Izieu and Cyrielle Forses, education and research officer, Samuel Pintel, a former child of Izieu that stayed in the home in 1943, shared his story. Afterwards they attended a presentation by Alexandre Nugues-Bourchat, who gave an insight in the memorial’s actions in fighting racism and antisemitism.
