Choosing the right tour format for your class

To have a tour guide with you in your choice of workshop, find out details about the educational activities offered by the Maison d’Izieu or to request to partner with us for a specific project, time is set aside for educational purposes from Monday to Wednesday from 4pm to 5pm from the start of the school year to the beginning of the summer holidays on.

A resource area

The memorial’s documentation centre provides teachers with lots of books and documents on the themes covered in the exhibition and workshops (history of the children’s home of Izieu; Vichy France; the Shoah and its memoirs; art and camps; mass crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide; justice, from Nuremberg to the International Criminal Court) – including a significant number aimed at young people.

Reception on site

The Maison d’Izieu is a national memorial site that welcomes both groups and individual visitors. As a shared place of visit, mutual respect between the visitors and towards the place  key to the visit running smoothly.

When you arrive at the site:

– Go to the reception desk and say exactly how many students you are with. You will be welcomed and given more information about how the conduct of proceedings.

– Groups can arrive on site between 9:15am and 10:30am and from 1pm for groups attending in the afternoon.

– Waste management: in order to protect the site and its natural environment, the Maison d’Izieu is not in a position to collect your rubbish. Groups are asked to take their rubbish with them at the end of their visit. Remember to bring bin bags.

– There is a bookshop where you can buy books or souvenirs of your visit.
